These are not hatchery stock, but are strains that originated from top show breeders. There is much confusion about this breed, the best explanation I have found was written by John Blehm, one of the originators of the breed (so he knows all about them). I am choosing to maintain only 2 lines of the true Ameraucanas, Mottled large fowl and Lavender bantams. Both of these lines are in need of genetic improvement in various ways that I think I can do.
