These are a “classic” heritage breed. Created in, as you would guess, New Hampshire. They are a supersized, super rugged version of the Rhode Island Red. Sold by many hatcheries, but as layer-optimized for efficient chick production. The line I have is from Freedom Ranger Hatchery, the Henry Knoll line. These are very good for meat production. I don’t generally raise chickens for meat. Any meat we get is incidental to improving breeding groups, but they are actually worth raising as meat birds.
It think they are a great homestead breed, and am happy to discuss how they might be of use to you.
